Tuesday is looking a bit wild and windy in parts, ahead of a nasty Wednesday for much of the country.
Northwesterlies will pick up and become very gusty by the afternoon, with intermittent gale force winds possible about Cook Strait and Wellington.
The Fiordland coastline will also be buffeted about at times, with northwesterly gales blowing through from morning – though it’s a risk mainly to anyone out on the water rather than on the actual coast.
