Strong winds continue to blast across a number of regions this afternoon while a wide spread of temperatures covers the country.
In Auckland squally showers are coming in off the Tasman Sea with gusts up to 80km/h.
Whangarei, New Plymouth , Taupo and Westport have gusts to 65km/h while Tauranga and Invercargill are reaching 70km/h.
In Napier westerlies are reaching 80km/h.
Temperatures across New Zealand are wildly different from north to south today too.
This hour it’s 17 in Whangarei, 15 in Auckland, 16 in Whakatane but just 8 in Dunedin and 4 in Invercargill.
The wind chill in some exposed high altitude areas of Otago is currently -10 reports WeatherWatch.co.nz.
The wind chill in Invercargill with that 70km/h wind is -4.

Hi Mel – you might not like the news story we are putting together for tomorrow morning!
More wind on the way…. it should ease in Auckland on Thursday…but that’s the spring equinox…so expect windy weather for the next 4 to 6 weeks.
