It’s the Melbourne Cup today, Guy Fawkes tomorrow and high pressure continues to cover much of NZ bringing lighter winds and sunnier skies. There is a slight southerly that has brought in a few isolated showers and cloud to some South Island areas today.
Over the coming days high pressure moves around, mostly centred around the North Island but bringing milder airflows right across NZ for the most part.
But stormy weather in Australia – bringing showers and westerlies and a temperature drop into Melbourne later today – isn’t likely to affect NZ much, but may bring some lower West Coast rain later this week.
Next week low pressure grows – and it’s a large area – which may bring in more western rain and showers to NZ and some windier days, although compared to October it doesn’t look too severe at this early stage.
