It looks as though most of us are in for a wet weekend as yet another large area of low pressure moves in from the Tasman Sea.
The new low is likely to bring heavy rain to the West Coast and into western and northern parts of the North Island – adding to the already saturated ground in places like Northland and Bay of Plenty.
Windy weather is also likely to be part of the system with gales likely around central New Zealand such as Wellington and around Cook Strait.
WeatherWatch.co.nz says it’s part of a new phase of weather which is seeing, for the first time in quite some time, a stream of lows forming in the Tasman Sea.
