Here’s what is making the weather headlines this weekend….
HEAVY RAIN – NORTH ISLAND

FROSTY MONDAY – SI, HEAVY RAIN FURTHER NORTH
High pressure lies over the South Island on Monday, this combined with clear skies for many means frosts are likely.
Meanwhile further north a low drags a southeasterly airflow over the North Island bringing heavy rain in the northeast.
WEATHER ON SUNDAY
A southerly airflow lies over the North Island, tending east to southeast over the South Island.
North Island
Mostly cloudy for the lower and eastern North Island, showers in the east from Wellington up through to Hawkes Bay, Gisborne may have heavy rain in the morning then easing. Morning cloud out west breaks then mostly sunny, winds from the south or southwest.
South Island
Showers in the east and for the top of the South Island, easing from afternoon, becoming few by evening then clearing at night. Snow flurries in the east to 500 or perhaps 400m. South Westland and Southland sees sun. Winds from the east for Southland and Otago, southeast further north. Frosty overnight for many especially about the Main Divide and for the lower South Island.
