A belt of high pressure across the country dominates the weather and wind pattern for the next few days.
Mostly sunny weather with light winds and lake and sea breezes spread over the country. There may be some regions that are fairly cloudy at times, this will shift around a little over the days.
There are risks of sudden afternoon thunderstorms through interior regions both in the North and South Islands.
These thunderstorms are being caused by humidity on top of higher than usual temperatures and calm winds. Some thunderstorms will become Severe.
As temperatures decrease in the evening these downpours and thunderstorms will ease and clear – and overnight and early morning low cloud, mist and even fog patches may spread into some places.
