Blustery weather is retreating southwards on Sunday but may remain in the lower South Island (or return later).

Thunderstorms have eased in most places.

Windy nor’westers are easing back on Sunday, especially in the north of NZ. Gales may again return to the lower South Island on Sunday PM. Rain will be heavy on the West Coast on Sunday but large dry areas elsewhere around NZ.

Monday kicks off with a large high-pressure zone north of New Zealand and that may come down over the top of the North Island bringing drier and calmer conditions but further down the country you go the windier it will be. Once again that rain will be lining up along the western side of New Zealand but looks to be mostly limited to the West Coast of the South Island at the start of next week.
