Sunday Newsfeed: Milder in south, winds from the west picking up

It’s a fairly simple forecast this weekend as high pressure expands over the country and low pressure moves away/falls apart from the eastern North Island. As high pressure grows slightly over the Tasman Sea, winds strengthen in NZ on Sunday PM and across Monday.

Sunday:
Mostly dry nationwide, with westerlies developing across the nation and strengthening – making it milder in the South Island’s east. Drier in the North Island than Saturday was – but still a few isolated showers possible. Some wet weather south Westland too.

Monday:
A windier and cooler south-west change arrives with some wet weather but large dry areas too, especially in the eastern half of the North Island. Snow on the ranges in the lower half of the South Island. SW gales possible around Auckland.
