Here’s what is making the weather headlines today….
SNOW WARNINGS – SOUTH ISLAND
The South Island is in for some snow over the next couple of days, starting in the far south this morning then further northwards this evening.
There is the potential for some heavy snow about inland parts of the upper South Island overnight into Thursday morning.

THUNDERSTORMS POSSIBLE THURSDAY – NORTH ISLAND
Unstable skies may develop for the upper North Island on Thursday, especially around midday as a front passes over and a westerly change kicks in. A second chance later in the day with a southwest change, the risk later in the day is the point when the coldest upper air moves over so there is a possibility of hail at this moment also.

HIGH PRESSURE FROM FRIDAY
Conditions start to clear from the south on Thursday for the South Island but it’s Friday that high pressure brings a completely settled day in the south.
After early clearing showers much of the North Island has a mainly settled Friday also although showers still stick along the coastal fringe in the east.
