Here’s what is making the weather headlines today….
SETTLED DAY, WARM IN THE NORTH AND EAST
Mainly settled for most of New Zealand today thanks to high pressure, temperatures for the upper North Island and in the east will be in the mid to late teens.
Northland sees a few isolated showers, mainly this afternoon. Fiordland has a few showers also.
Look for areas of fog morning and night especially for inland parts of the North Island.
DRY THURSDAY / FRIDAY, RAIN FROM THE NORTH THIS WEEKEND
Most of New Zealand is dry on Thursday and Friday, a front does bring heavy rain to Fiordland on Friday but much of the country is dry.
This weekend a front pushes down from the north bringing rain or showers to the North Island.
INSTABILITY EARLY NEXT WEEK – UPPER NORTH ISLAND
A little on Monday, but more so on Tuesday and Wednesday we see some instability for for the upper North Island. This means there could be a few isolated heavy showers, perhaps even some thunder.
Keep an eye on our thunderstorm page from Sunday to see where potential may lie.
The lifted index chart below shows instability, the area marked 0 or below (white in colour) is a region of instability.
