A west to southwesterly airflow lies over the country today, a cold front moves over the North Island but mostly brings a few showers in the west.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Partly cloudy with a few showers, mainly in the west. Bay Of Plenty has a mainly sunny day after any morning cloud clears. Fresh southwesterlies ease later in the day.
Highs: 15 – 17

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Partly cloudy with a few showers, clearing in the afternoon. Breezy westerlies ease later in the day although remaining gust for coastal Taranaki.
Highs: 9 – 17

Eastern North Island

Mostly sunny, westerlies tend southwest for a time in the afternoon.
Highs: 16 – 18

Wellington

Sunny, westerlies tend to the north in the afternoon.
Highs: 15 – 16


Marlborough & Nelson

Sunny, west to southwesterly winds. Afternoon easterlies for Marlborough.
Highs: 16 – 18

Canterbury

Mostly sunny, light winds tend to the easterly quarter in the afternoon, evening cloud especially near the coast.
Highs: 14 – 15

West Coast

Cloudy areas and occasional showers, becoming sparse in the evening. Southwesterly winds.
Highs: 10 – 14

Southland & Otago
Showers ease from afternoon for Southland and coastal Otago south of Dunedin, clearing in the evening. Snow flurries possible to 500m in the morning. Blustery west to southwesterly winds. Central Otago is mostly sunny.
Highs: 10 – 16
