Conditions are mostly calm for New Zealand today although a front brings heavy rain to Northland especially later on. Showers for the West, heavy rain about Fiordland from late afternoon. Warm in the east today.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Morning showers ease and cloud may break to some sun, Northland for much of the day is cloudy with rain, possibly heavy especially later on. Overnight rain spreads down from the north. Northwesterly winds.
Highs: 19-22

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
A mix of sun and cloud, chance of a shower or two otherwise mainly dry. West to northwesterly winds.
Highs: 16-20

Eastern North Island

Any early spots of rain clear then mostly sunny, light winds.
Highs: 21-24

Wellington

Mostly sunny, any morning cloud breaks away. Northerlies pick up later in the day.
Highs: 18-20

Marlborough & Nelson

Sunny. Morning southwesterlies for Nelson tend northwest in the afternoon. Northwesterlies all day for Marlborough.
Highs: 18-20

Canterbury

Sunny after any morning low cloud or fog clears, north to northwesterly winds. Winds may tend a little more northeasterly nearer the coast.
Highs: 15-19

West Coast

Mostly cloudy with a few showers, rain for Fiordland in the evening becoming heavy. Buller stays dry all day though. Northerly winds.
Highs: 13-17

Southland & Otago
Sunny areas and some high cloud, spots of rain later in the evening for coastal Southland. Rain from evening spreading into the lakes district from the west. North to northwesterly winds.
Highs: 15-17
