A northwesterly airflow lies over the country today, a cold front moves into the far south later this afternoon or evening bringing rain.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty Partly cloudy, risk of a shower or two, mainly in the west. West to northwesterly winds.
Highs: 14 – 16

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Partly cloudy, chance of a shower, especially later in the day. Northwesterly winds.
Highs: 10 – 16

Eastern North Island

Sunny, light to moderate northwesterly winds.
Highs: 16 – 18

Wellington

Mostly sunny, a touch of high cloud especially later in the day. North to northwesterly winds freshen.
Highs: 14 – 15

Marlborough & Nelson

Sunny, west to northwesterly winds.
Highs: 15 – 18

Canterbury

Mostly sunny and warm, some increasing high cloud. North to northwesterly winds.
Highs: 14 – 16

West Coast

Mostly cloudy with showers, Buller is dry in the morning. Heavy rain develops about Fiordland in the evening. Northerly winds.
Highs: 11 – 14

Southland & Otago
Dry with sun and thickening high cloud, rain develops in the afternoon for Southland then further north overnight as northerlies change to the south. Snow lowers to 400m overnight for Southland, 600m for Otago.
Highs: 13 – 15
