Wednesday’s national forecast – High pressure brings settled weather

Mainly settled weather today thanks to high pressure, there is still a few showers for the eastern North Island though with southerly winds but they gradually clear from the south.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Sunny with south to southeasterly winds.
Highs: 16-18

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Sunny, morning cloud in the east breaks away. Southeasterly winds die out in the evening.
Highs: 9-16

Eastern North Island

Occasional showers, clearing Wairarapa in the afternoon, Hawkes Bay this evening and Gisborne overnight. Cool southerlies.
Highs: 13-15

Wellington

Morning cloud clears to sunny weather, southerlies die out later in the evening.
Highs: 13-14

Marlborough & Nelson

Mainly sunny, any morning cloud for Marlborough clears. A frosty start inland. Light southerlies tend onshore in the afternoon.
Highs: 12-15

Canterbury

Sunny with light winds, morning cloud for Kaikoura breaks away.
Highs: 11-14

West Coast

Sunny, some cloud about Buller brings a few showers. Light winds.
Highs: 14-17

Southland & Otago
Mostly sunny with a touch of high cloud, a frosty start away from the coast. Light winds for Otago, west to northwesterly winds for Southland.
Highs: 13-16
