A northerly airflow lies over the country today, wet for regions in the west. Heavy falls for some, especially the western North Island from this afternoon. Drier and warmer in the east.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Rain, becoming heavy from afternoon especially in the west, thunderstorms possible. Breezy northeasterly winds.
Highs: 19-22

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Mostly cloudy, it may be dry then rain starts to spread down from the north morning on wards, becoming widespread by late afternoon. Rain heavy from evening especially for Taranaki. Northerly winds.
Highs: 19-23

Eastern North Island

Mostly cloudy, scattered spits of rain spread from the west north of Napier then by evening expect spits for Wairarapa and drier conditions further north. North to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 23-24

Wellington

Mostly cloudy, chance of a spit, rain at night. Breezy northerlies.
Highs: 19-21

Marlborough & Nelson

Mostly cloudy, rain for Nelson and the Marlborough Sounds, a few heavy falls for Tasman. Eastern Marlborough is drier but there may still be a few spits or showers. Breezy north to northwesterly winds.
Highs: 18-21

Canterbury

High cloud, rain in the high country is heavy, a few scattered falls spread eastwards. Northerly winds, tending more northeast near the coast.
Highs: 21-23

West Coast

Rain with heavy falls, breezy northerlies ease from afternoon.
Highs: 16-18

Southland & Otago
Partly cloudy with early morning spits clearing, some rain for Southland from evening. Northeasterlies tend north to northwest in the afternoon.
Highs: 21-23
