A front slowly pushes northwards over the South Island today with rain in the west, showers in the east. Northwesterlies for the North Island.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Mostly cloudy with the chance of a shower, Bay Of Plenty has sunny spells. Gentle westerlies.
Highs: 15-17

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Mostly cloudy, risk of a light shower for Kapiti and Taranaki. Northwesterly winds.
Highs: 10-15

Eastern North Island

Mostly sunny with some high cloud from afternoon, light northwesterly winds, strong about Wairarapa.
Highs: 15-19

Wellington

Cloudy areas, risk of a shower, mainly in the north. Strong northwesterly winds.
Highs: 14

Marlborough & Nelson

Mostly sunny with some high cloud, north to northwesterly winds.
Highs: 15-17

Canterbury

Mostly sunny with light winds, afternoon southerlies sees cloud thicken Banks Peninsula southwards then a few showers develop in the evening.
Highs: 14-19

West Coast

Cloudy, rain with heavy falls for South Westland pushes into North Westland around midday. Northerly winds.
Highs: 12-14

Southland & Otago
Morning rain eases to showers as northerlies change west to southwest, clearing around midday. Sunny spells increase from afternoon about Southland, remaining cloudy for Otago. A few showers may push back into North Otago in the evening as light winds tend northeast.
Highs: 11-13
