A front pushes off the North Island today moving away to the northeast and a high moves in in behind.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Morning rain clears, some sun breaks through but expect plenty of high cloud, winds from the southwest. Later in the evening a few showers move in for eastern areas like Bay Of Plenty up through to eastern Northland as winds tend to the east.
Highs: 16-18

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
A few morning showers clear then sunny spells increase from afternoon, southeasterly winds.
Highs: 11-16

Eastern North Island

Cloudy areas, morning showers clear then a few further showers push through in the afternoon, clearing by evening. Southwesterly winds.
Highs: 13-16

Wellington

Mostly cloudy, a light shower or two then sunny spells increase from afternoon, southerly winds die out in the evening.
Highs: 12-13

Marlborough & Nelson

Mostly cloudy for Marlborough, chance of a light shower then sunny spells increase from afternoon. Nelson has mainly sunny weather after any morning cloud clears. Southerly winds ease.
Highs: 12-14

Canterbury

Morning cloud, perhaps a light coastal shower then clearing to a mostly sunny afternoon with light winds tending northeast.
Highs: 3-12

West Coast

Any morning cloud clears then sunny, south to southwesterly winds die away.
Highs: 10-13

Southland & Otago
Cloudy areas for Southland with the odd shower possible, mainly along the coast. Otago has morning cloud then afternoon sun, west to southwesterly winds, gusty about the coast.
Highs: 8-10
