A cold front pushes northwards over the South Island today but it loses out (weakens) to a high pressure system covering most of New Zealand.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
A mix of sun and cloud. Southwesterly winds.
Highs: 23-26

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
A mix of sun and cloud. Northerlies tend to the west in the afternoon then south in the evening.
Highs: 19-23

Eastern North Island

Sunny, morning cloud breaks away for Wairarapa. Some cloud later in the day or overnight for all. Light east to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 23-25

Wellington

A mix of sun and cloud, northerlies tend southerly around midday.
Highs: 22-24

Marlborough & Nelson

Mostly sunny, southerly winds tend easterly in the afternoon for Marlborough. Afternoon northerlies for Nelson.
Highs: 24-25

Canterbury

A few showers south of Banks Peninsula this morning, pushing northwards around midday. Showers clear away in the evening. Southwesterlies tend southeast in the afternoon.
Highs: 18-25

West Coast

Partly cloudy, morning rain or showers about South Westland clear. Southwesterly winds.
Highs: 20-24

Southland & Otago
Morning rain or showers clear, becoming mostly sunny this afternoon. Southwesterlies die out in the evening.
Highs: 17-23
