A front moves onto the lower South Island later this afternoon or evening bringing rain or showers, southwesterly winds in the west, east to northeasterly winds in the east.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Bay Of Plenty has mainly sunny weather, partly cloudy elsewhere with a few showers possible, mainly in the west. Southwesterly winds.
Highs: 16-18

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Partly cloudy with a few showers, west to southwesterly winds.
Highs: 11-16

Eastern North Island

Mostly sunny however Wairarapa has a few showers, further north an isolated shower or two may develop late afternoon / evening. Light winds.
Highs: 15-18

Wellington

A few morning showers then sunny areas develop in the afternoon as southerlies tend to the north.
Highs: 15-16

Marlborough & Nelson

Morning cloud for Marlborough, chance of a shower then afternoon sun as winds tend to the north. Nelson has a mix of sun and cloud, southwesterlies tend to the north in the afternoon, back to the southwest in the evening.
Highs: 16-18

Canterbury

A mix of mid and high level cloud, northerly winds, tending more northeasterly along the coast in the afternoon, easing in the evening.
Highs: 14-16

West Coast

Showers with westerlies, rain moves into Fiordland in the afternoon with heavy falls, rain moves northwards in the evening.
Highs: 11-14

Southland & Otago
Partly cloudy, Southland has a few morning showers then clearing. Evening rain moves into Southland as northwesterlies change westerly, a few spits may reach Otago.
Highs: 15-17
