A front pushes north over the South Island today bringing heavy rain in the west, occasional showers for the North Island in the west. Drier weather in the east mostly with warm temperatures.
Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Partly cloudy, a few isolated showers. Showers may be heavy in the afternoon for Waikato, easing later on and clearing but showers remain for Bay Of Plenty overnight. Northerlies.
Highs: 17 – 19
Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Partly cloudy, a few isolated showers, clearing evening. Overnight rain moves in from the west. Northerly winds.
Highs: 15 – 20
Eastern North Island
Early cloud clears then mostly sunny, south of Napier may see an isolated shower in the afternoon. Northerlies.
Highs: 19 – 22
Wellington
Mostly cloudy, the odd spit or shower, overnight rain. Strong northerlies.
Highs: 15 – 16
Marlborough & Nelson
Partly cloudy with a few spits or showers, rain later in the evening or overnight. Northerly winds, breezy for Marlborough.
Highs: 15 – 18
Canterbury
Early cloud and any spits of rain clear then mostly sunny, late afternoon / evening there may be a few further spits of rain (rain more likely in the high country) as a front moves over from the west. Northerly winds.
Highs: 18 – 20
West Coast
Early heavy rain eases, rain with heavy falls and a chance of thunderstorms pushes northwards during the afternoon as a front moves in from the Tasman. Conditions ease late evening then overnight further heavy showers move in bringing a chance of thunderstorms again, perhaps hail too. Gusty northerlies ease later in the day.

Southland & Otago
Partly cloudy, a few spits of rain from midday for Southland, perhaps late afternoon for Otago, clearing later in the evening. Northerlies.
