Wednesday’s national forecast – A huge high moves in nationwide

An enormous high pressure zone, or anticyclone, is centring itself nicely over New Zealand for Wednesday and Thursday pushing remaining light showers off eastern NZ and bringing plenty of sunny, dry, weather across the country.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Mostly sunny with light winds, perhaps a slight SE flow in Northland may bring in a few clouds from the east and a very low risk of an isolated shower, otherwise dry.
Highs: 18-22

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Mostly Sunny. A light frost possible first thing around Waiouru/Ohakune where overnight lows are closer to zero and again overnight tonight.
Highs: 16-17

Eastern North Island
Any remaining light showers clear today, most likely lingering around northern Hawke’s Bay/Mahia or East Cape. Dry and sunniest inland.
Highs: 15-17

Wellington
Mostly Sunny, a few clouds possible in Wellington city.
High: 13-14

Canterbury
Mostly sunny. A cold start with maybe a light frost inland. Light winds.
Highs: 15-17

Marlborough & Nelson
Sunny, light winds.
Highs: 17-18

West Coast
Sunny with light winds.
Highs: 17-19

Southland & Otago
Mostly Sunny after a cold start. A possible light inland frost. Calm / Light variable winds.
Highs: 15-17
