Unsettled weather continues today. For the North Island the weather turns more so from afternoon about the upper North Island, thunderstorms and heavy downpours are possible. In the east and south showers continue. For the South Island expect wet weather in the east, dry about the far south and in the west.

Northland
Some cloud, rain develops in the afternoon with heavy falls and thunderstorms possible then easing later in the evening. East to northeast winds.
Highs: 22-23

Auckland
Some cloud, rain develops later in the afternoon or early evening with heavy falls and thunderstorms possible then easing overnight. East to northeast winds.
Highs: 22-23

Central North Island, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Showers turning to rain in the afternoon, rain could turn heavy especially in the evening. Low risk of a thunderstorm in the afternoon. Easterly breezes.
Highs: 19-22

Eastern North Island
Periods of rain with southeasterly breezes, a few heavy falls about northern Hawkes Bay and Gisborne in the evening then further south overnight.
Highs: 18-19

Western North Island
Southeasterly winds south of Taranaki with sunny spells, there may be a period of morning showers however they ease becoming few and far between. For Taranaki expect sunny spells and easterly winds, the odd shower especially afternoon with heavy falls and thunderstorms possible then easing evening for a time, rain picks up again at night.

Wellington
Patchy rain or drizzle with brisk to strong southeasterly winds. There is the chance of a brief sunny spells or two in the afternoon otherwise expect mostly cloudy skies.
High: 18

Nelson
Patchy rain with dry spells, rain clearing by evening. Brisk southeasterly winds.
Highs: 19

Marlborough
Periods of rain with brisk cool southeasterlies, rain may ease to drizzle patches at times in the afternoon.
Highs: 18-19

Canterbury
Cloudy with drizzle patches, especially about the foothills, dry breaks about the coast. Areas of rain at times about the hills and ranges of North Canterbury. Breezy easterly winds.
Highs: 15-16

West Coast
Breezy southeasterlies ease during the morning, some high cloud with the odd shower spreading into Buller at times from the east. About South Westland a few cloud build ups develop about the ranges in the afternoon and may lead to isolated showers then clearing later in the evening.
Highs: 20-22

Coastal Otago
Cloudy with brisk east to northeast winds, chance of a drizzle patch now and then.
Highs: 13-14

Central Otago
Sunny with a few clouds about, cloud more likely in the northeast.
High: 22

Southland
Mostly sunny with easterly breezes.
High: 19
