Our tropical low will start to wind down from today but it still packs some punch. The main areas feeling it will be the north Canterbury coastline, Marlborough and Wellington with strong winds and heavy rain possibly on the cards. Also Northland where winds will be strong and gusty from the west.

Northland
Periods of rain with westerly winds increasing from morning becoming strong.
Highs: 17

Auckland
Areas of rain, brisk easterly winds change westerly by evening.
Highs: 16-17

Bay Of Plenty, Waikato & Central North Island
Periods of rain with northeasterly winds, winds change southwest in the evening with rain easing to showers.
Highs: 16-17

Eastern North Island
Periods of rain, easterly winds ease then change southwest in the evening.
High: 17

Western North Island
Gusty southeasterly winds with periods of rain, winds change more southerly late afternoon.
Highs: 16-17

Wellington
Rain with fairly persistent falls, easing to showers late afternoon as strong to gale southeasterlies tend brisk southerly.
High: 14

Nelson
Fairly cloudy, morning rain clears. Gusty southeast winds ease.
Highs: 14

Marlborough
Heavy rain eases to showers late afternoon, strong to gale southeasterly winds tend southwest in the evening. Showers clear overnight.
Highs: 13-14

Canterbury
Rain, heavy falls possible at times along the north Canterbury coastline and especially about Kaikoura. Brisk southerly winds tend more southwest in the afternoon. Rain eases to showers in the evening.
High: 10-11

West Coast
Some morning rain possible about Buller, otherwise expect mainly dry weather with plenty of high cloud. Gusty southeasterly winds ease overnight.
High: 15

Coastal Otago
Cloudy with easterly breezes, a few showers from afternoon. Winds change southerly overnight.
High: 11

Central Otago
High cloud with easterly breezes. High cloud decreases overnight.
Highs: 15-16

Southland
Sunny with areas of high cloud, east to northeast breezes. Winds may be a little breezy at times during the afternoon then easing evening.
High: 15
