Heavy rain and damaging wind gusts are expected to descend down the nation over the coming days bringing a wet and windy end to the year in a number of locations – although not everyone has wind and rain as our mountains and ranges break up the flow. The mountains and ranges also enhance the wind and rain, making it more intense for others.

Heavy rain and strong wind warnings are expected to increase from MetService as the low moves in.

There is some good news – the weather is likely to break up more going into New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day with less severe weather around and fewer warnings expected.
