An anticyclone starts to centre itself about the tip of Northland today as a westerly airflow covers the rest of the country. Expect plenty of cloud in western areas, sunny mild weather out east.
Auckland & Northland
Cloudy spells with southwest breezes, winds about Northland will be light with the chance of longer sunny breaks at times.
High: 14-15
Bay Of Plenty
Mostly sunny with light southwest breezes, a few clouds at times.
Highs: 15-16
Central North Island & Waikato
Cloudy spells. Cloud thickens about southern and western parts of the Central North Island in the evening and there may be an overnight drizzle patch in these areas.
Highs: 10-13
Eastern North Island
Sunny with light winds, mild temperatures after a cool start.
Highs: 15-16
Western North Island
Cloudy spells with sunny breaks at times, westerly breezes. There may be an overnight drizzle patch or two.
Highs: 13-14
Wellington
Sunny with northerly breezes.
High: 13
Marlborough & Nelson
Sunny with light winds, tending westerly about Nelson. Some thin high cloud for a time, mainly morning.
Highs: 14-16
Canterbury
Sunny with light winds tending northwest inland, some morning high cloud then clearing.
High: 15-16
West Coast
Cloudy with the odd shower turning to rain in the evening. Northerly breezes.
High: 13
Coastal Otago
Some early morning high cloud clearing, otherwise expect a mostly sunny day with light winds. Late evening high cloud develops again and there may be a few spots of rain overnight spreading from the west.
High: 14
Central Otago
Early morning light rain clears then expect sunny spells and some cloud, north to northwest breezes. At night some rain moves into western parts of the district and a few spots of rain may spread further east.
Highs: 9-10
Southland
Any morning light showers clear then expect sunny weather with some high cloud. Northwest breezes.
Highs: 13-14
