Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Rain, heavy for a time this afternoon then clearing in the evening / later at night. Rain eases to showers (possibly heavy) in the afternoon for Northland. Breezy northeasterly winds, tending northwest in the afternoon for Northland.

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Showers, rain about Taranaki spreads elsewhere during the afternoon then easing overnight. Rain may be heavy about Taranaki. Northeasterly winds, breezy about Taranaki in the morning then easing.
Highs: 11-15
Eastern North Island
Cloudy, a few spits of rain develop this morning spreading from the west. Rain becoming a little more widespread from afternoon then heavy in the evening. Rain clears overnight as northeasterly winds change southwest.
Highs: 15-17
Wellington
Patchy rain develops early this morning then clearing at night. Breezy northeasterly winds.
High: 15
Marlborough & Nelson
Morning rain with heavy falls, more so about Tasman Bay but possibly Marlborough too then easing to showers this afternoon. Showers clearing at night for Marlborough, the odd shower remains for Nelson. Breezy northerlies ease later today.

Canterbury
Chance spot of morning rain, afternoon sun breaks through although expect plenty of high cloud. Heavy rain in the high country eases to showers after midday. Breezy north to northeasterly winds.

West Coast
Rain with heavy falls this morning then afternoon showers, northeasterlies may tend a little more northerly in the afternoon.
Highs: 13-15
Southland & Otago
High cloud for Southland, chance spot of rain in the afternoon then sun breaks through. Central Otago is mainly dry with high cloud although expect some rain about the southern lakes district spreading from the west then easing evening, high cloud breaks late afternoon or evening. Coastal Otago has mid level cloud break away this morning then expect high cloud. North to northeasterly winds tend more northwest in the afternoon.
