Upper North Island

Cloudy and sunny areas today with breezy west to southwesterly winds. The odd shower possible at times also especially this afternoon, Bay Of Plenty is expected to remain dry today however. Morning showers clear in Gisborne then a few sunny areas may peak through in the afternoon, still plenty of cloud about however with breezy southwesterlies easing during the day. Late afternoon a few showers may develop about the ranges of East Cape any of which clear at night.
HIGHS: 18-19 for most today, Gisborne around 17.

Lower North Island

Westerly breezes today with cloud and sunny areas, a few brief showers at times especially afternoon about Taranaki, Manawatu and the Central North Island. Expect long dry spells also, some areas may not receive showers during the day. Places that do receive showers should see them ease in the evening possibly clearing. Mostly sunny about Wellington with some cloud, light winds. Breezy southwesterlies about Wairarapa and Hawkes Bay, a few sunny areas may begin to break through later in the afternoon as southwesterlies finally ease. Any morning showers clear.
HIGHS: 16-17 for most.

Upper South Island

Mostly sunny with areas of cloud, northeasterly breezes on the east coast and westerly breezes on the West Coast. Cloud thickens up on the West Coast north of the Glaciers during the afternoon then a few showers develop there at night. Mostly sunny in Canterbury with northeasterly breezes in the afternoon, some cloud. High cloud develops after midday.
HIGHS: 17-18 about Nelson, Marlborough and Canterbury. 16-17 on the West Coast.

Lower South Island

Some high cloud about the lower South Island clearing this morning with mostly sunny weather developing, light winds and northeasterly breezes on the east coast. Mid to late afternoon a few isolated showers then develop about Southland and eastern parts of Otago. A few of these showers could be heavy and thundery then easing at night. Northerlies in Fiordland today with rain developing this morning, winds change westerly in the afternoon with rain easing to showers. Further north through to the Glaciers expect cloudy weather to develop this morning but remaining dry, showers then develop during the afternoon.
HIGHS: 16-17 about Southland and Otago, 14-15 on the West Coast south of the Glaciers.
