Heavy rain and northerly gales are moving across NZ going into the weekend as a large low from the Tasman Sea moves closer – and interacts with a powerful blocking high to our east.
We cover where the rain will be heaviest – and what might change the rainfall forecasts.
Next week frosts and polar air returns to the South Island but another low in the Tasman Sea may move back in with more rain – especially for the North Island and upper South Island (yes, again).
We have your forecast for today Friday, the weekend and the outlook for next week.

Why does this Government not provide vital information.
That’s very interesting but not surprising

Hi there, it’s because the Government has heavily commercialised MetService. Despite MetService getting tax funding to operate and to build radar to protect the lives of New Zealanders, MetService restricts people using this infrastructure and data we all collectively paid/pay for. This design is to keep MetService at a competitive advantage, regardless of innovation or public demand. No other modern nation does this (ie, profits before public good) and is not the case in Australia, UK, Japan, Canada, USA etc etc.
Cheers

Hi Phil, My wife and I have escaped the winter weather in NZ, we are currently in Paris (high 20’s and blue skies), but it is nice to hear a familiar voice and keep up with the weather forecast for our family (Dargaville, Palmerston North and Feilding).
Thanks for your hard work, we’ve been watching your videos since the beginning, and they are better than the others.
Cheers
Gordon & Gael
