A low pressure system moves in from the Tasman Sea bringing rain or showers to western parts of the country from late afternoon / evening. A southerly change develops about the far south.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Sunny areas and increasing cloud, late afternoon / evening rain may bring a heavy fall then easing at night. Northeasterly winds increase changing northwest later on.
Highs: 16-19

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Morning cloud, may be a light shower about Kapiti and Taranaki then breaking to afternoon sun and some high cloud. Rain spreads into Taranaki early evening then elsewhere by midnight. Northerly winds.
Highs: 15-17

Eastern North Island

Sunny, some high cloud from afternoon. Overnight spots of rain. Light north to northeast winds.
Highs: 16-19

Wellington

Becoming mostly cloudy in the morning, chance of a spit in the afternoon. Overnight patchy rain moves in. Breezy northerlies.
High: 14-15

Marlborough & Nelson

Mostly sunny with developing high cloud, skies becoming cloudy in the afternoon for Nelson with the odd light shower possible. Late evening / overnight expect some rain. North to northwest winds.
Highs: 15-19

Canterbury

Mostly sunny with developing high cloud, overnight rain with a southwest change.
Highs: 16-18

West Coast

Rain for Fiordland with the odd heavy fall, cloudy further north with a few showers then turning to rain at night. Northeasterly winds.
Highs: 13-15

Southland & Otago
Cloudy with patchy rain for Southland, drier further north with high cloud. Rain becomes more persistent in the evening about Southland then spreading into Otago as northerlies change southwest.
Highs: 12-15
