Southwesterlies ease over the country today.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Morning cloud breaks away then mostly sunny, southwesterly winds. Afternoon west to northwest breezes for Bay Of Plenty.
Highs: 21-29

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Morning cloud, may be a shower then sunny areas increase from afternoon. West to southwesterly winds.
Highs: 18-22

Eastern North Island
Mostly sunny about Hawkes Bay and Gisborne, cloud about Wairarapa spreads further northwards in the evening. Southwesterlies develop by midday then swinging around to the east or northeast in the evening.
Highs: 19-25

Wellington
Sunny areas and some cloud, southerlies tend northerly in the afternoon.
High: 18

Marlborough & Nelson
Morning cloud, risk of a shower then becoming mostly sunny during the afternoon. Morning southerlies then afternoon northeasterlies.
Highs: 17-21

Canterbury
Any early showers clear then sunny areas increase, morning southwesterlies then afternoon east to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 16-19

West Coast
Cloudy areas north of the Glaciers with showers, mainly morning and dry areas increasing from afternoon. Further south conditions are sunnier and drier, some cloud and a few showers move into Fiordland from afternoon however spreading northwards in the evening. Southwesterly winds.
Highs: 16-19

Southland & Otago
A mix of sun and cloud for Southland, a few showers late afternoon / evening. Mostly sunny for Otago. Northwesterly winds, breezy about Southland. Coastal southwesterlies for Otago die away in the morning.
Highs: 17-21
