A front slowly pushes northwards over the country today bringing some rain, mainly to western regions. Expect high cloud out east.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Sunny spells, may be an isolated shower or two. A period of rain later in the evening or overnight as northwesterly winds change westerly.
Highs: 14-16

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Mostly cloudy with the odd light shower from afternoon then some evening rain, easing overnight as northwesterly winds change westerly.
Highs: 12-15

Eastern North Island
Mostly sunny with some increasing high cloud, north to northeasterly winds. Chance spot of rain later in the evening or overnight.
Highs: 14-15

Wellington
Mostly cloudy, some scattered afternoon / evening rain. Increasing north to northwesterly winds.
High: 14

Marlborough & Nelson
High cloud, rain spreads into Nelson in the afternoon then spots of rain reach over into Marlborough by evening. Rain clears late evening then high cloud breaks away. North to northwesterly winds.
Highs: 12-14

Canterbury
High cloud, may be a spot of rain around midday. Some late afternoon sun. Northeasterly winds tend north to northwest in the evening.
Highs: 10-12

West Coast
Cloudy with a few showers, rain (possibly heavy) about South Westland moves into North Westland in the afternoon, easing everywhere in the evening as northeasterlies change westerly.
Highs: 10-13

Southland & Otago
Plenty of high cloud, some scattered rain about western Central Otago, mainly dry elsewhere however there may be a few spots of evening rain. North to northwest winds, tending northeast about coastal Otago.
Highs: 9-12
