A northerly airflow lies over New Zealand today, ahead of a front which slowly makes it’s way onto the western side of the South Island. A large high gets shunted to the east.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Morning cloud then sunny spells, cloud may be a bit more persistent about the Bay Of Plenty bringing the risk of a shower or two at times during the day. This chance extends into the Waikato for a time in the evening. East to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 17-20

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Morning low cloud or fog possible (mainly inland) then expect sunny areas and some high cloud. Northerlies.
Highs: 16-19

Eastern North Island
Some morning cloud then mostly sunny with areas of high cloud, light north to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 17-19

Wellington
Mostly cloudy, northerly winds.
High: 16-17

Marlborough & Nelson
Sunny areas and some high cloud. Cloud thickens and lowers for Nelson from afternoon, the odd shower moves in by evening. North to northwesterly winds.
Highs: 17-19

Canterbury
Cloud breaks to sunny areas in the afternoon, northeasterly winds.
Highs: 17-19

West Coast
Cloudy, some rain about South Westland spreads into North Westland during the afternoon. Northeasterly winds.
Highs: 16-17

Southland & Otago
High cloud, decreasing later in the day. There may be a few spots of rain in the afternoon. North to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 16-18
