A large anticyclone to the southeast directs a light east to northeasterly airflow over New Zealand today.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
A mix of sun and cloud. Cloud may be thicker about Auckland and Waikato, perhaps bringing the chance of a shower or two. Light winds then afternoon sea breezes.
Highs: 22-26

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Mainly sunny weather, some cloud at times about Taranaki. Light winds tend onshore in the afternoon.
Highs: 22-25

Eastern North Island
Morning cloud then mostly sunny, cloud a bit more frequent about Gisborne with the chance of a shower or two. Easterly winds.
Highs: 21-23

Wellington
Mostly sunny, a few clouds at times. Easterly quarter winds.
High: 22

Marlborough & Nelson
Morning cloud then mostly sunny, easterly winds for Marlborough, afternoon northerlies for Nelson.
Highs: 22-23

Canterbury
Morning cloud breaks to sunny areas and some high cloud. Chance of an isolated shower late afternoon / evening about inland hills or ranges then clearing later on. East to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 20-23

West Coast
Morning cloud breaks to sunny spells, there may be an isolated shower about the ranges late afternoon / evening. Light winds tend west to southwest in the afternoon.
Highs: 21-25

Southland & Otago
Morning cloud or fog breaks to sunny areas and some high cloud, light east to southeasterly winds.
Highs: 19-25
