A large anticyclone casts a ridge back over the North Island today meanwhile a northwesterly airflow lies over the South Island.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Any morning cloud clears then mostly sunny with light winds then afternoon sea breezes.
Highs: 25-26

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Cloudy areas, perhaps a light shower or two especially morning. Northerlies tend west to northwest in the afternoon.
Highs: 20-23

Eastern North Island
Sunny with light winds in the morning then afternoon east to northeasterly breezes.
Highs: 25-28

Wellington
Sunny spells with breezy northerly winds.
High: 22

Marlborough & Nelson
Sunny with afternoon north to northwesterly winds.
Highs: 23-28

Canterbury
Mostly sunny, light winds tend northerly for inland areas and east to northeast near the coast.
Highs: 26-29

West Coast
Mostly cloudy with a few patchy light showers, westerly winds.
Highs: 20-23

Southland & Otago
Mostly sunny weather, perhaps a touch of high cloud, north to northwesterly winds. Coastal Otago may see a few early spots of rain then becoming mostly sunny with afternoon east to northeast winds.
Highs: 23-29
