A west to northwesterly airflow lies over New Zealand today, mainly settled although the West Coast of the South Island sees some rain.

North Island
Morning cloud for Northland through to the Bay Of Plenty breaks then mostly sunny from afternoon, west to southwesterly winds. Cloud may thicken up again overnight especially in the west.

Morning cloud for the lower western North Island (Taranaki through to Kapiti), chance of a shower then afternoon sunny spells. West to northwesterly winds. Mostly sunny for the east coast with northwesterlies, an afternoon sea breeze may develop for Hawkes Bay and Gisborne.

Afternoon temperatures in the mid twenties across most of the North Island today, late twenties for some parts of Hawkes Bay / Gisborne.

South Island
Cloudy along the West Coast with showers, some rain for South Westland eases mid afternoon onwards. Mainly sunny and hot for Nelson, Marlborough and Canterbury. Mostly sunny for Otago, some afternoon cloud possible near the coast. A mostly sunny morning for Southland then cloud develops during the afternoon bringing a shower or two. Winds for most South Island regions are from the west or northwest, perhaps tending easterly in the afternoon for coastal Otago.

Afternoon temperatures in the late twenties or early thirties for Central Otago, Canterbury, Marlborough and Nelson. The West Coast, Southland and the rest of Otago sees temperatures in the low to mid twenties.
