A northerly airflow gradually builds over New Zealand today while a large low forms in the Tasman Sea.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Some morning sun for Northland / Auckland then cloud increases from afternoon. Cloudier for the Waikato and Bay Of Plenty, chance of a light shower or two (especially about the BOP) otherwise mainly dry. North to Nor’East winds.
Highs: 16-17

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
A mix of sun and cloud, Taranaki sees cloudier skies from morning then the odd shower from afternoon. Northerly winds.
Highs: 12-15

Eastern North Island
A mainly sunny day after any morning cloud breaks away, light northerlies.
Highs: 14-17

Wellington
Increasing cloudy areas from morning, chance spit or two from late afternoon. Breezy northerly winds.
High: 13

Marlborough & Nelson
A mainly sunny morning then cloud increases from afternoon bringing in the chance of a few spots of rain. North to northwesterly winds pick up after midday.
Highs: 12-13

Canterbury
Mainly sunny with a touch of high cloud, light winds.
Highs: 12-13

West Coast
Mostly cloudy with a few patchy showers, parts of North Westland may remain fairly dry.
Highs: 11-13

Southland & Otago
Sunny areas and increasing high cloud, some scattered rain overnight (mainly about Southland). Light northerlies.
Highs: 10-12
