A ridge lies over the North Island today while a northwesterly airflow builds over the south.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty

Sunny with light south to southeasterly winds, tending a little more southwesterly in the afternoon especially in the west.
Highs: 21-22

Western North Island (including Central North Island)

A mainly sunny day with light winds tending west to southwest in the afternoon.
Highs: 19-20

Eastern North Island

Sunny with gentle southerly breezes, some cloud hangs about Gisborne northwards for much of the day bringing the odd shower which clears in the evening.
Highs: 19-21

Wellington

Sunny with northerly winds.
High: 19

Marlborough & Nelson

Sunny with light winds tending north to northeasterly in the afternoon.
Highs: 20-22

Canterbury

Mostly sunny with east to northeasterly winds, breezy in the afternoon near the coast. Light winds inland about the foothills.
Highs: 19-21

West Coast

Sunny areas and increasing cloud with westerly winds, the odd light shower moves into Fiordland during the afternoon.
Highs: 18-19

Southland & Otago

Sunny areas and increasing high cloud, west to northwesterly winds for most although tending more northeast about the Otago coastline.
Highs: 19-21
