A front moves off the top of the South Island today then over the North Island generally during the afternoon. Northwesterly winds change westerly behind the front. Another colder front moves onto Southland mid to late afternoon.
Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Morning sun with the chance of a shower, rain moves through in the afternoon with northwesterly winds. Rain easing to showers mid to late afternoon with a southwest change, showers mostly clearing in the evening although there could be one or two hanging about.

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Cloudy areas with rain developing during the morning (chance of a heavy fall), easing to showers by mid afternoon as northwesterlies change westerly. Showers clear by evening.
High: 12-13
Eastern North Island
Sunny areas and increasing high cloud with breezy northwesterly winds, some rain moves through late afternoon with a westerly change then clearing evening.
Rain develops during the morning then easing to showers early afternoon as gusty northwesterly winds change westerly. Showers clear later.
High: 13
Marlborough & Nelson
Areas of rain (heavy about the northwest Nelson area) with brisk northwesterly winds, clearing around midday with winds changing westerly. Cloud breaking away during the afternoon, skies clear by evening.
Morning cloud and any showers clear to mostly sunny weather in the afternoon, light winds. A few overnight showers.
A few morning showers clear then sunny areas develop, southwesterly winds. Rain moves into South Westland in the evening then pushes further northwards overnight.

Southland & Otago
Cloud increases in the morning. Some rain moves through mid to late afternoon about Southland, moving into Otago in the evening with a southwest change then clearing overnight. Some snow to 500m for a time.
