Cold southwesterlies continue to lie over the country today, areas of cloud for most with the odd shower about mainly about coastal regions. The West Coast of the South Island, Nelson and Marlborough are the places to be today with plenty of sunshine.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Cloudy areas and some sun, chance of a shower at times especially afternoon. Brisk southwesterly winds.
Highs: 18-21

Western North Island (including Central North Island)

Sunny areas and some cloud with west to southwesterly winds, chance of a
brief shower around midday / early afternoon. Taranaki will likely see cloud
build in the morning, showers around midday then clearing in the afternoon with
sunny spells breaking back through. Winds gusty from the southwest then easing
later in the day.
Highs: 15-17

Eastern North Island

Mostly sunny with breezy southwesterly winds, the Wairarapa for much of the
day will have cloudier skies with the odd shower near the coast. Hawkes Bay and
Gisborne see cloud build for a time around mid afternoon bringing the chance of
a brief shower or two.
Highs: 16-18

Wellington

Cloudy periods with strong southerly winds, chance of a brief shower or two
otherwise dry.
High: 14

Marlborough & Nelson

Mostly sunny with any morning cloud clearing away, southwesterly winds. A
cold start to the day for sheltered areas especially inland.
Highs: 18-19

Canterbury

Periods of cloud with strong gusty southwesterlies near the coast, gales at
times out on Banks Peninsula with the odd shower. The more one goes inland
conditions will be drier with winds decreasing, sunnier inland too but it will
be a cold start to the day.
High: 13

West Coast

Sunny with south to southwesterly winds.
Highs: 15-16

Southland & Otago

Mostly cloudy, a few sunny areas break through in the afternoon especially
inland, brisk to strong southwesterlies ease later in the day.
Highs: 10-12
