A weak low sits over the South Island today with northwesterlies flow over the North Island, a front over the lower North Island brings rain.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Cloudy periods with northerly winds although Northland sees longer sunny areas during the day. Cloud thickens in the evening for Auckland and Tauranga while some rain moves into the Waikato.
Highs: 22-25

Western North Island (including Central North Island)

Cloudy with patchy showers then rain from midday, rain may not arrive in
the Central North Island till evening. Rain about Taranaki in the afternoon will
be heavy at times. Northwesterly winds.
Highs: 20-22

Eastern North Island

Plenty of high cloud with northwesterly winds, early rain clears the
Wairarapa then moves back again in the afternoon. Rain pushes further north into
the Hawkes Bay and perhaps as far north as Gisborne in the evening.
Highs: 23-24

Wellington

Cloudy with spells of rain, gusty north to northwesterly winds. A southerly
change moves in overnight.
High: 19

Marlborough & Nelson

Cloudy with morning rain possibly heavy about Nelson then easing in the
afternoon, breezy north to northwesterly winds. Overnight some rain picking up
again with a southerly change.
Highs: 21-24

Canterbury

Mostly cloudy with light winds, patchy morning showers or drizzle Banks
Peninsula northwards.
High: 21

West Coast

Sunnier skies about South Westland with light winds, cloudier further north
with the odd shower and northwesterlies.
High: 19-21

Southland & Otago

Mostly sunny with light winds, a late afternoon southwest change brings a
few showers into Southland which clear in the evening. Otago mainly staying dry
and just seeing some late cloud.
Highs: 17-22
