A ridge of high pressure mainly dominates over the country today extending out from an anticyclone east of New Zealand, mainly settled although isolated showers could pop up about some inland upper South Island areas and inland parts of the North Island.
Auckland & Northland
Mostly sunny with some mid and high level cloud. light winds in the morning then afternoon sea breezes. Could be a few isolated showers late afternoon / evening about southern parts of Auckland.
Periods of cloud and the odd sunny spell, chance of an isolated shower this
afternoon mainly inland. East to northeast winds.
High: 23
Western North Island (including Waikato)
Sunny areas and some cloud, light winds tend southeasterly by midday
southern Taranaki southwards. There could be a few isolated showers in the
afternoon and early evening inland then pushing towards the coast
overnight.
Highs: 24-26
Eastern North Island
Periods of cloud and sunny areas with east to northeast winds, cloud thickening up a little after midday then late afternoon / evening isolated showers possible mainly inland about the ranges possibly heavy. A few showers may spread to the coast in the evening.
Sunny areas and some cloud, southerly winds pick up from morning. Overnight
there may be a shower or two.

Marlborough & Nelson
Mostly sunny although expect some cloud about Marlborough especially in the
south, east to northeast winds by midday. A few isolated showers from evening
(mainly inland) then clearing overnight.
A mostly cloudy day with cool southerlies, there is the chance of a light
shower at times (mainly inland) otherwise dry. Cloud breaks later in the evening
or overnight.
Mostly sunny weather with light winds, a few clouds build about the ranges
in the afternoon bringing the risk of an isolated shower. Showers may become
heavy about Buller with a risk of thunderstorms.
Highs: 20-22
Southland & Otago
Morning cloud breaks to sunny areas, sunny by midday about Southland and
Central Otago. Light winds, easterlies by midday about coastal Otago and
Southland.
Highs: 17-21
