A south to southwesterly airflow lies over the country today, mainly settled weather continues although expect plenty of cloud along the South Island’s east coast. Isolated showers are possible about some upper North Island areas late afternoon / evening, some of which could be heavy for the ranges of Hawkes Bay and Gisborne with the chance of a thunderstorm.

Mostly sunny with light winds and afternoon sea breezes, south to southwesterly winds pushing through to the east coast in the evening.

Auckland

Sunny areas and some cloud with southwesterly winds. Low risk of a brief
shower late afternoon / evening.
High: 25

Bay Of Plenty

Mostly sunny with light westerlies, picking up a little this afternoon.
Chance of a late afternoon / evening isolated shower.

Waikato

Morning cloud breaks to sunny spells, light westerlies pick up alitlte this
afternoon. Chance of a late afternoon / evening isolated shower.
High: 25

Central North Island

West to southwest winds this morning with cloudy areas and the chance of a
shower, sunny spells develop this afternoon as winds gradually swing around to
the south. Winds tend southeast in the evening.
High: 25

Eastern North Island

Mostly sunny about Hawkes Bay and Gisborne with light winds this morning,
southeasterly winds develop in the afternoon bringing some cloud. Chance of an
isolated shower this afternoon especially about the ranges, possibly heavy then
easing later this evening. The Wairarapa sees a fairly cloudy start with the
risk of some drizzle then cloud breaking for a time, southerlies push in again
towards midday bringing further cloud and the chance of a light shower.

Mostly cloudy this morning with the chance of a drizzle patch, sunny areas
develop this afternoon with southwesterly winds.

Western North Island

Mostly cloudy this morning with the chance of a drizzle patch, sunny areas
develop this afternoon with west to northwest winds. Southeasterlies then move
in this evening.
High: 24

Wellington

Cloudy areas with the odd light shower or drizzle patch possible this
morning, southerly winds.
High: 20

Nelson

Mostly sunny with light winds tending northerly this afternoon. This
evening some cloud builds, there may be an isolated shower mainly inland later
on.

Marlborough

Periods of cloud and sunny spells, chance of a drizzle patch early this
morning then there may be a shower or two this evening. Southerlies tend more
easterly this afternoon.

Canterbury

Mostly cloudy with the chance of a drizzle patch or two moving in this
morning, any remaining shower activity clears this afternoon nearer the coast
with the odd light shower becoming restricted to inland areas. Southerly winds
develop this morning.

West Coast

Mostly sunny weather with southwesterly breezes, easing later this
evening.

Coastal Otago

Southwesterly winds develop this morning with some cloud and the chance of
a shower, sunny areas develop this afternoon.

then ease later this evening.

Southwesterlies winds pick up this morning, becoming mostly cloudy with the
chance of a shower towards midday. Sunny areas develop in the afternoon with
southwest winds easing later.
