A front pushes over the North Island this morning and afternoon then onto the South Island this afternoon and evening. With it comes increasing cloud and rain or showers with gusty east to northeast winds. Showers may be heavy with thunderstorms about the upper North Island from this morning.

Northland
Morning rain, possibly heavy with a thunderstorm then easing, strong northeasterly winds ease and tend more northerly by midday. Showers continue for the rest of the day, isolated in nature with the odd heavy fall and thunderstorm possible.

Auckland

Showers to rain this morning, heavy falls around midday with t/storms
possible. Strong to gale northeasterlies eases early PM and tend northerly.
Showers continue for the rest of the day, isolated in nature with the odd heavy
fall and thunderstorm possible.

Bay Of Plenty

Cloudy with showers turning to rain late morning, chance of heavy falls in
the afternoon then easing in the evening. Humid east to northeast winds.
High: 20

Waikato

Patchy showers develop in the morning, gusty easterly winds strong about some eastern parts of the region. There may be a
heavy fall or two with the risk of thunderstorm about northern Waikato early to
mid afternoon then easing by evening with winds easing then too and tending more
northerly.
High: 20

Central North Island

Cloudy with gusty easterlies, the odd shower develops around midday then
eases later in the evening. Rain for a time later in the afternoon as a front
moves over. Winds ease later in the day.
High: 18

Eastern North Island

Cloudy with gusty easterly winds, the odd light shower for Hawkes Bay and
Gisborne in the morning gives way to rain in the afternoon. The Wairarapa only
seeing light showers in the afternoon. All forms of precipitation ease in the
evening then clear around midnight with winds easing.

Western North Island

Cloudy, showers about Taranaki spread elsewhere mid to late afternoon.
Humid easterly winds gusty about Taranaki. Taranaki may also see a sustained
fall of rain early afternoon.

Wellington

Cloudy with humid northeasterly winds, late afternoon / evening rain.
High: 20

Nelson

Cloudy with northeasterly winds, rain develops early to mid afternoon with
a heavy fall or two not out of the question late afternoon. Rain then eases in
the evening.
Highs: 20-21

Marlborough

Cloudy, spells of rain develop mid afternoon then ease in the evening. East
to northeast winds.
Highs: 20-21

Canterbury

Thickening high cloud, gusty east to northeast winds. Some rain for North
Canterbury and some other inland areas late afternoon then spreading to the
coast in the evening. Rain clears overnight.
Highs: 18-21

West Coast

Mostly cloudy with northeasterly winds, increasing in the afternoon. Rain
north of Westport by midday spreads southwards during the rest of the afternoon
getting into Fiordland by evening.
Highs: 20-21

Coastal Otago

Sunny areas and thickening high cloud, brisk northeasterlies. Brief rain
possible later in the evening / overnight.
Highs: 17-18

Central Otago

Sunny areas and increasing high cloud, light winds. Chance of a shower
later in the day mainly in the west.
Highs: 26-28

Southland

Mostly sunny with increasing high cloud from late morning, east to
southeast winds. Chance of an evening shower mainly in the west.
Highs: 21-24
