A northwesterly airflow lies over the South Island today, cloudy in the west and mostly sunny out east. For the North Island expect a north to northeasterly airflow, most places are dry with some cloud at times. A few regions see some drizzle or possibly a late afternoon shower.

Northland
Mostly cloudy with drizzle patches, especially in the east. There may be isolated rain pockets for eastern areas within drizzle. Northeasterlies.
Highs: 16-17

Auckland

Cloudy spells for much of the day, especially in the morning. A few sunny
spells may break through later in the afternoon. Northeasterly winds.
Highs: 16-17

Bay Of Plenty

Mostly cloudy for much of the day, some morning drizzle then mostly
clearing although the odd drizzle patch could move through at times for the rest
of the day. Northeasterly winds.
Highs: 15-16

Waikato

Cloudy spells for much of the day, especially in the morning. A few sunny
spells may break through later in the afternoon. Northeasterly winds.
Highs: 17

Central North Island

Morning low cloud or fog breaks to a mostly sunny afternoon, light
northerlies.
Highs: 16

Eastern North Island

Mostly sunny with a few flicks of high cloud, light winds.
Highs: 16-17

Taranaki

Cloudy at first with some morning drizzle clearing, a few sunny spells
break through in the afternoon. Northerly winds.
High: 15

Western North Island

Mostly sunny with light northwesterlies.
Highs: 17-18

Wellington

Periods of cloud, increasing northerlies brisk from afternoon.
High: 14

Nelson

Mostly sunny with north to northwesterly winds, some evening cloud.

Marlborough

Sunny with northwesterlies freshening in the afternoon.

Canterbury

Sunny with light northeasterlies near the coast, winds tend northwest
inland.

Cloudy spells with the odd drizzle patch, northwesterly winds.

Coastal Otago

Sunny with light winds.

Central Otago

Mostly sunny with some high cloud, northwesterly winds. Warmer temperatures
the further east one goes.
