A southeasterly airflow continues over the country today, expect drizzle north of about Banks Peninsula and rain for central parts of the country. Parts of the Central North Island, Waikato, Bay Of Plenty and southern Auckland may see relief in the form of heavy afternoon showers.

Northland
Sunny spells with light winds, low risk of an afternoon shower.
Highs: 22-24

Auckland

Any early showers clear then expect sunny spells with light winds. Mid afternoon / evening there could be isolated showers about southern parts of
Auckland, some could be heavy with thunderstorms then clearing later.
High: 23

Bay Of Plenty

Any early showers clear then expect cloudy areas and a few sunny spells,
light northerlies. Mid afternoon isolated showers are possible, some may be
heavy with thunderstorms then easing later.
Highs: 21-22

Waikato & Central North Island

Any early showers clear then expect cloudy areas and a few sunny spells.
Mid afternoon isolated showers develop, some heavy with thunderstorms then
easing at night. Light winds.
Highs: 20-24

Eastern North Island

Rain for Wairarapa with southerly winds. Rain a little patchier further
north but a few persistent falls still possible.
Highs: 18-22

Western North Island

Cloudy with morning rain easing to the odd shower, southeasterly winds.
Morning showers clear about Taranaki then sunny spells develop with brisk
southeasterly winds, strong on the south coast.
Highs: 20-22

Wellington

Rain with brisk southerly winds.
High: 16

Nelson

Fairly cloudy with southeasterly winds, the odd shower with long dry spells
at times into the afternoon.
Highs: 19-20

Marlborough

Periods of rain with southeasterly winds.
Highs: 17-18

Canterbury

Any morning drizzle clears with a few sunny spells possible by midday,
southerly winds. In the evening cloud returns with drizzle again, mainly north
of about Banks Peninsula. North of Cheviot skies remain cloudy with patchy rain
or drizzle for much of the day.
Highs: 14-16

West Coast

Mostly sunny with southwesterly breezes tending southeast late in the day.
A few early showers north of Westport clearing in the morning.
Highs: 18-20

Coastal Otago

Morning sunny areas and some high cloud, more general cloudy periods from
midday as winds tend southwest.
High: 16

Central Otago

Mostly sunny with areas of high cloud, light winds tend southerly in the
afternoon.
Highs: 18-19

Southland

Morning high cloud clears to a mostly sunny afternoon with westerlies
tending southerly around midday.
High: 16
