A west to southwest airflow lies over the country today. The odd shower at times in the west, mainly dry out east.

Northland
Sunny spells with northwesterly breezes, there may be a brief shower at
times in the west during the day otherwise conditions will be mainly dry. In the
evening winds change southwest with a greater chance of showers.
Highs: 24-26

Auckland

Cloudy and sunny spells with westerly breezes, the odd shower at times too.
Winds tend more southwest in the evening.
High: 23

Central North Island, Waikato & Bay Of
Plenty

Cloudy spells with a few sunny breaks at times. The odd shower in the
afternoon then easing in the evening potentially clearing.
Highs: 22-24

Eastern North Island

Mostly sunny with westerlies tending more northwest in the afternoon, there
may be an early clearing shower about the Wairarapa.
Highs: 27-30

Western North Island

A few morning showers clear then expect cloudy spells with northwesterly
winds, picking up in the afternoon becoming a bit breezy. Later in the evening
or overnight a few further showers are possible.
High: 20-21

Wellington

Early cloud clears with southerlies dying out, becoming sunny. Northerlies
freshen from mid morning becoming strong afternoon.
High: 20

Nelson

Mostly sunny with light winds at first, north to northwesterly winds pick
up in the afternoon.
High: 22

Marlborough

Becoming sunny early in the morning, northwesterlies pick up in the
afternoon becoming strong.
High: 26

Canterbury

Sunny with easterlies near the coast, northwesterlies inland.
Northwesterlies push through to the coast in the evening. Late evening or around
midnight a southwest change may bring a brief shower or two, especially about
Banks Peninsula.
Highs: 24-26

West Coast

Cloudy spells increasing from morning, the odd shower by midday then
evening rain with a brisk southwest change.
Highs: 16-17

Coastal Otago

Mostly sunny with north to northeasterly winds, a southwest change in the
afternoon brings showers which may be heavy then clearing in the evening.
Showers may return by dawn the next morning.
Highs: 19-20

Central Otago

Mostly sunny with developing high cloud and westerly winds, a southwest
change in the afternoon brings some rain then clearing evening. Rain moves in
again overnight.
Highs: 17-19

Southland

Sunny areas and increasing high cloud with northerly winds, a westerly
change around midday brings some rain then easing to showers.
High: 17
