WEATHER ON THURSDAY
On Thursday conditions start to ease for the South Island, we still have showers streaming up the eastern coastal fringe and about the far south with snow to 500 and 400m in the morning respectively but this level will lift from afternoon.
The North Island still has plenty of unsettled weather to go, thunderstorms and hail for western regions looks likely. Some snow to 700m about the Central Plateau by evening before clearing. Rain in the east for Wairarapa from morning then spreading northwards in the afternoon. Overnight rain clears for much of the North Island but showers remain for western Northland and along the eastern coastal fringe.
HIGH PRESSURE MAKES INROADS FROM FRIDAY
High pressure starts to push in from the Tasman on Friday so naturally conditions ease. We still have a few showers up the eastern coastal fringe for the North Island but these will gradually peel away during the day. Showers about the far south of the South Island ease and clear in the evening.
Expect plenty of sun in the west and for the upper North Island, eastern regions are looking to see a fair amount of cloud.
The upper South Island and Central North Island may be quite frosty to start the day, it will also be cold further south for inland parts of the lower South Island but because of cloud frosts look to be kept at bay.
