HEAVY RAIN CENTRAL NZ

MUGGY AT THE MOMENT

If you think it’s been a bit muggy and warm for the North Island the last couple of days you would be right, this continues right through to Saturday then starts to ease from Sunday as a south to southwesterly airflow kicks in.

Dew points are right up in the late teens this week, the dew point temperature is a measure of humidity. The tropics can often have dew points in the early twenties so if the upper North Island is experiencing dew points in the late teens then you know it’s very humid for the time of year.

LOW STILL TO MOVE IN LATE FRIDAY / SATURDAY

A low pressure system is still due to move in from the Tasman Sea later on Friday, heavy rain still looks like a possibility for the upper South Island and lower North Island later on Friday and continuing into Saturday.

The upper North Island may see heavy rain also as a front moves through.
