Wednesday’s Headlines: Warm in the east, The high is coming, Rain in the far north late Thursday

Here’s what is making the weather headlines today….

WARM IN THE EAST

Temperatures for the eastern South Island got a tad higher than we pegged yesterday, the eastern North Island worked out about right. Below are some readings, not bad for nearly mid winter.

Oamaru: 14.8

Timaru: 17.7

Ashburton: 16

Christchurch: 16.7

Kaikoura: 17.4

Blenheim: 15.9

Masterton: 15.4

Napier / Hastings: 17.6

Gisborne: 17

Expect similar temperatures again this afternoon however Canterbury not looking as warm now due to winds tending to the southerly quarter this afternoon, still sunny though.

THE HIGH IS COMING (THU), CLOUD COVER

It’s been unsettled and a high is moving in to save the day, and basically one day is all you’ll get before a new front lines as up in the Tasman on Friday.

RAIN IN THE FAR NORTH LATER TOMORROW

A front brings some rain to the far north of Northland tomorrow evening, nothing very heavy at all, map below.
