Cold southwesterlies continue over the country tonight, showers for many easing overnight although remaining fairly persistent about northern Waikato northwards.

Auckland & Northland
Showers, heavy at times with hail. A clap of thunder or two possible
overnight. Brisk to strong southwesterlies.
Tonight’s Lows: 7-8

Bay Of Plenty

Showers, some heavy with possible hail this evening and overnight, clearing
by dawn tomorrow. Cold southwesterlies.
Tonight’s Low: 4

Waikato & Central North Island

Showers, some heavy with hail and snow to 700m about the Central North
Island then clearing later this evening. Clear spells develop overnight. About
northern Waikato showers continue overnight with a risk of hail at times.
Tonight’s Lows: -1-3

Eastern North Island

Periods of cloud with west to southwest winds, a few showers about the
Wairarapa.
Tonight’s Lows: 2-3

Taranaki

Showers, possibly heavy with some hail then easing overnight. Gusty cold
west to southwest winds.
Tonight’s Lows: 3-4

Western North Island

Showers, heavy at times with some hail, easing overnight and clearing. Cold
westerlies.
Tonight’s Lows: 1

Wellington

Any remaining showers clearing overnight, cold southerlies.
Tonight’s Lows: 4-5

Marlborough & Nelson

Cloudy periods with isolated showers and a risk of hail clearing this
evening. Skies becoming clear overnight. Cold southwesterlies ease.
Tonight’s Lows: -2-0

Canterbury

Showers for Banks Peninsula and occasionally Christchurch, heavy at times
with hail and snow to 400m. Flurries may reach 300m at times. About inland areas
of Canterbury expect cloudy areas and the odd infrequent shower about the place
with a few snow flurries to the respective levels mentioned above. Areas of
precipitation clearing overnight and becoming cold although remaining about the
outer Peninsula.

West Coast

Mainly clear skies with south to southwesterly winds.
Tonight’s Lows: -2-1

Coastal Otago
The odd shower,
small hail at times and a few snow flurries to 300m then easing overnight. Cold
southwesterlies.

Central Otago

Remaining showers and snow flurries to 300m clear this evening, clear
spells overnight with cold temperatures.
Tonight’s Lows: -5 – -4

Southland

Occasional showers, easing overnight. Small hail at times and a few snow
flurries to 300m. Cold west to southwest winds.
Tonight’s Low: 2
